Centre Man In Prison For 2005 Murder Denied Parole

A Centre man in prison on murder charges was denied parole on Wednesday by the Alabama Board of Pardon & Paroles.

Tol Shelby Shropshire was sentenced to prison in 2008 for killing Allen Lane Scott of Centre back in 2005. Officers found Scott on the ground in the yard next door to Shropshire’s home on East Main Street.

Scott owned the property next door to Shropshire and had been talking with his tenant in the yard when Shropshire shot him.

Scott was taken to then, Cherokee Baptist Medical Center and later flown by helicopter to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers arrested Shropshire at his home and recovered a 9mm pistol believed to be the murder weapon. He was first charged with first-degree assault, but after Scott died the charge was upgraded to murder.
