Centre Man Sentenced to 20 Year Split Sentence with Five to Serve Following Plea Agreement

Monday morning, a Cherokee County man was sentenced to a 20-year split sentence in the courtroom of District Judge Shauathan Bell.

Stephen Eric Parker, a 48 year old resident of Centre, was originally arrested on a charge of Attempted Murder on June 19th, 2019 by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office; Parker later was allowed to plead guilty to a charge of Attempted Assault 1st Degree as a lesser included offense – which is a Class C felony – and through a plea agreement with the DA’s Office, was sentenced by Judge Bell to a 20 year split sentence – with five to serve and the remainder to be suspended followed by 60 months probation.

Parker was given credit for 454 days served, jail time, and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $110,383.75.
