Centre Man Sentenced To 97 Months On Drug Charges

District Attorney Mike O’Dell announces that his office has successfully completed the prosecution of Christopher Shane Hanson, age 36 of Centre. Hanson entered a guilty plea before Judge Shaunathan Bell to Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute on Thursday. 

Hanson was sentenced under the Alabama Sentencing Standards to 97 months of incarceration. The case stemmed from an arrest on April 29, 2014, during which Hanson was found to be in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine.Centre Police Department Investigator Will Clark was the case agent. 

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.

Deputy District Attorney Scott Lloyd prosecuted the case.  Lloyd said, “Possession with Intent to Distribute is one of the drug offenses that we call ‘Impact Cases,’ meaning those drug charges that have the potential to make a difference in the supply of drugs in the community.  We are thankful to the law enforcement officers involved in this case for their professional work.”
