Centre Middle School Placed On Lock-Down On Thursday, Parent Arrested After Entering The Building Without Proper Authorization

Centre Middle School was placed on lock-down on Thursday afternoon after a disgruntled parent entered the school and confronted a teacher in a threatening manner.

Centre Middle School issued the following statement on their Facebook page –

Centre Middle School was placed on lockdown this afternoon due to a parent who entered the building without proper authorization. Quick response by administration, staff, and local law enforcement prevented the situation from escalating. CMS went into a lock down to ensure student and staff safety. The parent was arrested and escorted from the premises. Parents, this is the perfect opportunity to speak with your child about the importance of following school safety rules, paying attention to procedures during safety drills, and listening to teachers in emergency situations. The safety of your child is of utmost importance at Centre Middle School”.

According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, the school was already in lock-down mode prior to he and his officers arriving on the scene.

The parent, identified as 34 year old Shawna Adrinne Lecroy was taken into custody by Centre Police and removed from the school, she was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and booked in on charges of Disorderly Conduct just after 2:30 before being released a short time later after posting a $300 bond.
