Centre Police Arrest Two In Connection with Walmart Thefts

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with thefts at the Centre Walmart.

According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, Terrance Allen Wright of Attalla, age 39, and Felicia Marie Kinard, 48 of an East Gadsden address, were both taken into custody after being detained at the store after Wright had been caught trying to walk out with a 52” TV – without paying for it.

Centre Police Officers immediately responded to the scene after receiving a call from the Walmart Asset Protection Associate who informed them that he’d witnessed a male subject attempting to leave the store with the merchandise and a female subject acting as a lookout – with video surveillance footage bearing this out.  According to reports while being questioned Wright proved to be cooperative, admitting to trying to steal the TV, even going so far as to say he’d done the same thing at other Walmart stores.  Kinard, on the other hand, proved somewhat less cooperative.  First, she gave law enforcement a false name, which she was arrested and booked into jail under.

The following day, Investigator Randy Mayorga discovered through a series of cross-checks with other agencies and databases, that she had given a false name.  When confronted with her “real name” she admitted that’s who she actually was.  She denied knowing who Wright was; however, video surveillance showed the two arriving in the same vehicle.

Wright has been charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree – and with two counts of Theft of Property 3rd Degree, meanwhile Kinard was charged with one count of Theft of Property 3rd Degree and with Using False Identity to Obstruct Justice.  Both currently remain in the Cherokee County Detention Center.  Bond for Kinard has been set at $2,000 while bond for Wright has yet to be set.

A third subject, a male, is still being sought in connection with this series of thefts occurring at the Centre Walmart.  Anyone with information is urged to call the Centre Police Department at (256) 927-3661 – any information provided will remain strictly confidential.
