Centre Police Department Conducts Driver’s License Checkpoint as Part of Safety Campaign

As part of their on-going safety campaign, the Centre Police Department recently conducted a Driver’s License Checkpoint on the East Bypass.

During that operation a total of 25 tickets and warnings were issued, with a total of 6 drug arrests also being made.

Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship stated that the initiative was part of an on-going effort by the department to help make the streets of Centre as safe as possible by enforcing traffic laws and bringing impaired driving to a halt.  He reminds motorists that texting and driving is also against the law and is an added safety risk to all those on the roadways.

Chief Blankenship and all the members of the Centre Police Department wish to thank both the Cedar Bluff and Leesburg Police Departments for their assistance in that operation.
