Centre Police Department Introduces New Police Officer During Their Tuesday Meeting

During the Centre City Council meeting on Tuesday each of the city’s department heads presented quarterly report for their respective departments. The council along with Fire Chief Jeremy Lee also opened sealed bids for equipment to be placed on the departments Engine 11. All bids will be reviewed to ensure that they meet specifications before a vendor is chosen.

At the recommendation of Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, the council approved a request to sale a K-9 cage at a cost of $1,000 to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The council also approved an expenditure of $3,606 to equip an unmarked vehicle with lights and other equipment. The council also approved the purchase of four ballistics vests’ for new officers at a cost of $3,120.

During the meeting Chief Blankenship welcomed Officer Emily Troxtel to the department as the newest officer, presently there are three officers that are three weeks out from graduating from the police academy and will begin official duty. Officer Troxtel will also be attending the police academy.

Streets and Sanitation’s Supervisor Bobby Paul also informed the council that the new Backhoe the city recently purchased had arrived and is ready to be placed into service.
