Centre Police Investigators Charge A Cedar Bluff Man In Connection To A House Fire In Centre Earlier This Year

According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, Chief Investigator Randy Mayorga has made an arrest in reference to a fire that took place on Shropshire St. earlier this summer.

The fire was reported by a neighbor on that evening, and Centre Police Officers, along with Centre, Leesburg and Spring Creek Fire Departments, were dispatched to the location of the fire.

Chief Blankenship also added that officers were approached with witness statements shortly after.

Investigator Mayorga and Investigator Leigha Blake conducted the investigation of the fire after the scene was secured.

Chief Blankenship said that 37 year old Joey Shropshire of Cedar Bluff is already in jail on unrelated charges and is now being charged with Arson 2nd Degree in connection to this fire.

Blankenship said that both Mayorga and Blake worked diligently in getting the information needed for the prosecution of this case and would like extend his appreciation to Officers Josh Sipsy and Daniel Wooten for assisting investigators with the information on this case.
