Centre Resident Pays Restitution as Part of Northwest Georgia RICO Case

Derry 3

On Monday of this week, a total of six people, including one Cherokee County, Alabama man forfeited items in Floyd County Superior Court in connection with the Floyd County Schools RICO case.

According to a report by the Rome News-Tribune, Floyd County Police Major Jeff Jones said that the items in the forfeiture agreements were all voluntarily turned over to police, and in many cases the people listed in those cases came forward on their own; Judge Tami Colston ordered Centre resident Harry Bailey, to surrender a check in the amount of $42,943.47 for restitution and present it to the Floyd County Police Department.

Harry Bailey was charged with a violation of the Georgia RICO Act and with Theft by Taking Government Property.  Derry Richardson allegedly bought computer items through Bailey’s ROM COM, Inc. business, billed the school system and afterwards, gave additional money to Bailey.

Richardson, the Floyd County school system’s former maintenance director and nine others – including Bailey, were arrested as part of a multi-million dollar theft investigation.

Those suspects are accused of inflating and falsifying invoices paid by the school system; all ten stand charged with violating the Georgia Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act and other crimes.
