Centre Softball Complex Hosts USA Softball of Alabama Tournament

USA Softball of Alabama recently hosted their annual “Rec Only Tournament” for the third consecutive year at the Centre Softball Complex.

Local teams along with teams out of Ft Payne, Henagar and Plainview and Etowah, Calhoun, Madison and Marshall counties here in Alabama – along with teams from Heard County and Rockmart, Georgia – a total of 19 teams in all – took part in the tournament.

Opening Ceremonies kicked-off with USA Softball umpire Michael Whisenant singing the national anthem.  Afterwards Cherokee County Revenue Commissioner Dustin St Clair gave the invocation followed by City Councilman Don Cothran throwing out the first pitch.

The organizers of the tournament wish to thank all of the teams and coaches for taking part in the tournament, especially since the event had to be moved from the original date of May 11th and re-scheduled due to inclement weather.

Everyone with USA Softball is looking forward to returning to Cherokee County on May 9th, 2020 for the 4th Annual Mother’s Day Rec Tournament in Centre.

“Big thanks to Charles Glazner, Centre Parks & Rec Director and Frog West (Field Crew) for their tireless efforts in helping make the tournament a success.  It takes a lot of working parts in order to put on an event like this and without these guys and all of our USA Softball staff working together it would not be impossible.”
