Charges NOT Likely to be Filed in Deadly Shooting Incident

Anniston Shooting 1Charges will likely NOT be filed against the man who shot and killed his neighbor during a dispute last Friday.

Anniston Police are saying that this appears to be a case of Alabama’s “Castle Law” wherein homeowners are allowed to use deadly force to protect themselves against people trying to break in to the home.

Police say Larry Johnson locked himself into his house, following an argument with Randall Dale Gaddy.

The elder Gaddy reportedly used a cinder block to break windows at Johnson’s home – and then came onto the front porch, and at that point Johnson fired several rounds through the front door, killing Gaddy; Gaddy’s son was shot once in the hand.

The incident took place on Wilmer Avenue in Anniston.

Calhoun County District Attorney Brian McVeigh stated that he agreed with police, saying it does not appear likely any charges will be filed – however he refused to comment further in the event that the case ever does go before a grand jury.
