iStock/Thinkstock(TOWNVILLE, S.C.) — Charges were upgraded to murder in the case of a South Carolina elementary school shooting after one of the victims — a 6-year-old boy — died, authorities said.
The boy, Jacob Hall, died on Saturday after being shot, allegedly by a 14-year-old, outside Townville Elementary School, in Anderson County, last Wednesday.
The suspect, who is being charged as a juvenile, faces weapons possession charges as well as attempted murder, according to Solicitor Chrissy Adams, of the 10th Judicial Circuit.
“Due to the death of one of the victims, a petition formerly filed as Attempted Murder has been upgraded to Murder,” Adams wrote.
The suspect also faces another murder count in the death of his father.
He had not entered a plea as of Oct. 1.
