Whether you are a Warrior, a Tiger, or even from outside of Cherokee County, runners and non-runners alike turned out on Saturday morning at the First Southern State Bank in Centre to support a Cherokee County High School teacher who had to medically retire last year.
Mrs. Carol Oliphant has taught generations within the Cherokee County community. Through her love of literature, writing, and her students, we have all lived more fulfilled lives because of her.
Due to a sudden illness, she now requires at-home care which insurance is fighting not to pay. She and her family deserve at least monetary peace of mind while she heroically fights her way back to health to hopefully join the teaching force again.
Community members organized the Cherokee Chop 5K, 10K and 1K Fun-Run with all proceeds benefiting the Oliphant family.
Overall winners (1st through 3rd) were named for both the 5k and the 10k in the male and female categories.
