Cherokee Co. High School Awarded $500 By The WLIA For The Best Clean Campus Program

Cherokee County High School was recently awarded a $500 check by the Weiss Lake Improvement Association for being selected as the ‘Best Clean Campus’ as part of the Alabama Pals Clean Campus Program.

The presentation was made during the recent Renew Our Rivers Cleanup held in Cedar Bluff –

That was Bob Pickerel with Weiss Lake Improvement. All 7 county schools were solidly supported by their principals by appointing campus coordinators. The inaugural winner this year accomplished alot. The CCHS team made up of primarily by members of the Future Farmers of America class, participated in monthly cleanups of their campus and at times, did it weekly.

Not only did they keep their campus clean but branched out to other county areas with their biggest clean up being the entire Mouth of Little River Canyon State Park.

The Cherokee County High School Fishing Team also participated in the cleanups of the lake shore over the weekend. Cherokee County High School Principal Seth Neyman and  Coordinator and Agribusiness Teacher Mindy Hittle-McNair provided tremendous support and leadership during the effort.
