Cherokee County Association Of Fire Departments & WEIS Radio Extend ‘Disaster Relief Donation Drive’

The Cherokee County Association of Fire Departments and WEIS Radio will be extending disaster relief efforts for the next two weeks.

On Thursday officials with the association contacted the relief director for Port Author, Beaumont and Houston Texas and as of now they are setting good on supplies and therefore, we will continue collecting supplies as Hurricane Irma approaches.

Drop off locations will be as follows;

  • Centre City Hall
  • Cedar Bluff City Hall
  • Leesburg City Hall
  • Cherokee County EMA Office
  • WEIS Radio Studios, 477 South Pratt Street in Centre 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Cherokee County High School FFA Department – 910 Warrior Drive in Centre
  • Learning Well Child Development Center on Highway 9 in Centre

 

Supplies will be picked up daily at the municipal buildings on the list above and we will post dates for each Fire Department.

Additional locations and times will be added as they are available.

Items needed at this time include;

  • Water
  • Fans
  • Bug sprays
  • Interior and exterior cleaning supplies
  • Shovels, rakes, brooms, etc
  • Yard tools (new or used)
  • Dog & Cat food
  • Baby food
  • Diapers
  • Rubber boots
  • Flash lights
  • Batteries
  • First Aid kits
  • Personnel hygiene products

 

The Cherokee County Fire Association currently has two tractor trailers ready to be filled to the max and these supplies. Monetary donations are being accepted as well and checks can be made to the Cherokee County Fire Association marked as ‘Hurricane Disaster Relief’.
