Cherokee County Association Of Fire Departments & WEIS Radio Sponsoring ‘Disaster Relief Donation Drive’

While the floodwaters recede in Houston and other areas ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, the needs of residents there do not.

The Cherokee County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments in conjunction with WEIS Radio is joining a growing list of volunteers assisting in relief efforts in the Houston area as part of emergency response to Harvey.

The association is hosting a donation drive to collect necessary supplies needed in recovery and rescue efforts.

Drop off locations will be as follows;

  • Centre City Hall – (during regular business hours Tuesday – Friday)
  • Cedar Bluff City Hall – 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday – Friday
  • Leesburg City Hall – (regular business hours Tuesday – Friday)
  • Cherokee County EMA Office on the Cedar Bluff Road in Centre (during regular business hours) Tuesday – Friday
  • Spring Creek Fire Department at John’s Cross Roads from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday
  • Gaylesville Fire Department on Highway 68 East from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00p.m. on Thursday
  • Spring Garden Fire Department (behind Spring Garden School) 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday
  • WEIS Radio Studios, 477 South Pratt Street in Centre 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Tuesday – Friday
  • Cherokee County High School FFA Department – 910 Warrior Drive in Centre – Tuesday – Friday
  • Learning Well Child Development Center on Highway 9 in Centre

Additional locations and times will be added as they are available.

Items needed at this time include;

  • Water
  • Fans
  • Bug sprays
  • Interior and exterior cleaning supplies
  • Shovels, rakes, brooms, etc
  • Yard tools (new or used)
  • Dog & Cat food
  • Baby food
  • Diapers
  • Rubber boots

 

The Cherokee County Fire Association currently has a tractor trailer ready to be filled to the max and these supplies will be taken to Port Author, TX as soon as it is full.

Monetary donations are being accepted as well and checks can be made to the Cherokee County Fire Association marked as ‘Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief’.
