During Tuesday’s meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education – Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice recognized Board Members Mark Green and Suzanne Bishop for their completion of the Level 2 Training in the AASB School Board Member Academy.
In other business the board approved its Financial Statements for the month of January and also approved an agreement with Xerox for the Central Office.
Out of State Travel approved included –
- Leah Bates and Lori Myrick,both English Teacher at Sand Rock to attend the Gulf Coast Writing Conference in Destin, FL June 29 – July 2, 2015 to be funded by Title I.
- Lisa Burt and Sand Rock Varsity Cheerleaders to attend a chorography session in Panama City Beach July20-24 at no expense to the board.
- Molly Jordan and Cherokee County High School Varsity Softball team to participate in the Sevier County High School Spring Fling Softball Tournament in Sevierville, Tennessee April 3-4 at no expense to the board.
- Theresa Thompson, Nurse Supervisor to attend the Pediatric Potpourri in Miramar Beach, FL June 21025.
In Personnel Action – the board accepted the retirements of June Maddox, Office Aide at Centre Elementary School with 31 years of service, Mary Maddox, 2nd Grade Teacher at Spring Garden School with 38 years of service and Pat St.Clair, Special Education Paraprofessional at Centre Elementary School with 25 years of service.
Certified Placements included – Tara Blanchard, Special Education Coordinator effective April 1st.
Certified Transfers by Agreement included – Steven Chestnut from Math Teacher to Physical Education/Head Football Coach at Sand Rock effective April 1st.
Leave of Absense was approved for Cheryl Shannon for a period of approximately six weeks beginning March4th.
The next regular meeting the Cherokee County Board of Education is set for Tuesday April 7th at 6:00 at the Central Board Office in Centre.
