The Cherokee County Commission held an emergency called meeting on Thursday evening to adopt two resolutions that will affect county services during the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
Effective immediately, all county buildings are hereby closed to the public through at least April 6, the commission also adopted temporary operating procedures for all county employees to follow during this public health emergency.
The County Courthouse, Administrative Center, Library, Nutrition Center, Animal Shelter and Highway Department will be closed. These closures will not affect public safety services.
All essential services will still be available to the public by phone or email only.
Also during the meeting, the commission approved a measure authorizing the County Administrator to process vendor payments and perform essential functions on behalf on the Commission. The regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission that was scheduled for Monday, March, 23 has also been cancelled.
All official county travel has been suspended.
