Cherokee County Commission Grants Tax Abatement to Cherokee Gin & Cotton Company for Expansion

During the regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission Monday, the Commission approved a resolution to grant a tax abatement to the Cherokee Gin & Cotton Company on their announced expansion which includes building a new Ginning facility on highway 411 north of Centre. This would not affect the property taxes or sales taxes going to education.

In other action by the commission, a software agreement for the Jail with Montgomery Technology was approved. The Sheriff explained this is just an updated version of the software being installed. They have been using this system in the jail for a number of years.

Excess Land redemptions were granted to Josh Langley in the amounts of $70.69 and $234.44, also to T. Mallory or Margaret Whorton in the amount of $4047.16.

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is set for April 9th at 10:00 am in the Commission Chambers at the Administration Building at 10AM.
