Cherokee County Commission Chairman Kirk Day:
The Commission also adopted a resolution declaring June the 15th as “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day”, and on hand for the presentation was Gerald Ware, Director of the Cherokee County DHR Office, along with Alison Lorde and Carolyn Gault.
An additional resolution was adopted for the county’s participation in the upcoming “Back to School Sales Tax Holiday”, taking place in August.
In other business, it was announced that the appointment of the District IV Representative for the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority, would be made during the July 13th meeting of the commission. Letters and resumes may be submitted through July 8th – this will be for the term ending January 31st of 2021, and applicants must reside in District IV.
Commissioners also approved an agreement with Amec Foster Wheeler Infrastructure, Inc. for the annual sampling and reporting of groundwater at the Leesburg Landfill, for 2015, in the amount of $9,537.50 as is required by ADEM.
The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is set for Monday, June 22nd at 5:00pm in the Cherokee County Administration Building in Centre.
