Sheriff Jeff Shaver discussed details of his proposed budget – which included information on a variety of items needed to help his office perform at peak efficiency.
Among those issues: the purchase of additional body cameras as well as new radar units for patrol vehicles; the installation of new in-car video systems; purchase of new ballistic vests; line item increases for uniforms, tires and vehicle repair and so on.
The sheriff also noted that salaries had not yet been listed; that, pending implementation of the version of the pay scale plan adopted by the commission.
During the course of the regular meeting, commission members approved a job posting, for an HMT-1 position at the Highway Department due to the retirement of an employee; voted to adopt the Cherokee County Solid Waste Management Plan; and approved an amendment to the current Jail Budget transferring $500 from Communication Equipment Repair to that of Office Supplies – they also approved a Long Term Detention Subsidy Agreement, with the Alabama Department of Youth Services.
Additionally, the commission agreed to submit the names of Larry Guffey, Pete Lemons and Joy Perry for consideration to an appointments to the Board of Equalization:
Resumes are also being accepted through September 9th for appointment/reappointments to the Department of Human Resources Board.
The commission also voted to adopt the Office of Probate Judge Recording Fee Resolution:
The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission, is slated for Monday, August 24th at 5:00pm, taking place in the County Administration Building in Centre.
