Monday’s meeting of the Cherokee County Commission saw new names and familiar names in regard to appointments/re-appointments to various Boards across the county.
WEIS Radio owner and operator Jerry Baker has been named to the Cherokee County Park Board in order to complete the unexpired term of the late Mr. Henry Wright, with that term ending in December this year (2016). Jeff Wolfe has tendered his resignation with the Park Board. Appointment to complete that unexpired term ending January, 2021 will take place during the February 22nd meeting of the commission.
Resumes will be accepted through February 17th for that position.
Two members, Dr. Bryan Perry and Andy Ellis were re-appointed to serve three-year terms on the Centre-Piedmont-Cherokee County Regional Airport Authority.
Matt Teal was appointed to the Cherokee County E-9-1-1 Board, to complete the unexpired term of Kevin Ware, which ends in December of 2017.
In other business the Commission is taking steps to solve some serious traffic problems; we spoke with County Engineer Corey Chambers following the meeting:

Commissioner Carlton Teague – filling in for Chairman Kirk Day, who was out of town – took time to remind those present that Monday January 18th is the 3rd Annual Countywide “Day of Service” and encouraged to everyone to do something special that day for the betterment of the community.
The Commission also voted to donate $1,500 to the Chamber of Commerce to help promote the “180th Anniversary of Cherokee County Celebration” throughout the year.
