Cherokee County Commission Meeting

The Monday morning meeting of the Cherokee County Commission consisted mainly of appointments to various county agencies, including a resignation at the Cherokee County Water & Sewer Board which will require an appointment to fill the unexpired term of six years, ending in March, 2025.  That appointment will be made during the next Commission Meeting on January 23rd.

The appointment/reappointment of two positions on the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority (Districts 1 and 3) will be made during the Monday February 13th meeting.  These are six year terms.

Two positions on the Communications District (E-911) Board (Places 6 and 7) will be on February 13th as well.

Resumes, etc., may be submitted for each position in the Commission Office, through Wednesday, February 8th and through Wednesday, January the 18th, for the Water & Sewer Board.

The County Commissioners also adopted a Resolution to extend participation in the ACCA Liability Fund for a three year period (January 1st of 2024 – December 31st of 2026) and approved annual software agreements with Southern Software, Inc., in the amount of $10, 696 (total) for Jail Management Support, RMS Analytics, the Records Management System, JMS Mobile, JMS Analytics and Biometric Scanning.

The Commission also approved fund allocations for the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce in the amount of $20,000 – and the Cherokee County Animal Shelter in the amount of $60,000 (for a vehicle purchase).

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is slated for Monday, January 23rd at 5:00pm in the Cherokee County Administration Building – on the Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.
