This week’s meeting of the Cherokee County Commission consisted, in large part, of various board appointments being made, including Janice Haynes being appointed to the Cherokee County Department of Human Resources Board for the term ending September of 2023 and Dustin Dutton and Leigh Anne Smith being appointed Animal Control Officers. The appointment/reappointment to the CED Mental Health Board is set to take place at the December 11th meeting of the Commission – also the appointment of three positions to the Cherokee County Building Authority will take place during the meeting; each term being for a period of four years, expiring in October of 2021. Resumes in each case will be accepted through Wednesday December the 6th at the County Commission Office, until close of business that day.
In other business the Commission adopted their 2017/2018 meeting schedule and adopted a Resolution to vacate and close County Road 670.
Commissioners also approved the agreement between the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Combined Public Communications which is for the video phone communication system used by the detention center inmates when communicating with visitors, or others needing to speak with them.
The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is set for Monday, November 27th at 5:00pm, taking place in the County Administration Building in Centre.
