The Cherokee County Commission – during their Monday morning meeting – announced that Connie Conley has tendered her resignation from the CED Mental Health Board; Conley has been on the Board for many years. The appointment to fill her six-year unexpired term ending April 1, 2023 will take place at the Monday, July 8, 2019 meeting. Submittal of resumes, letters, etc. will be accepted through Wednesday, July 3, 2019 until the close of business in the Commission Office.
The Commission approved a job posting for part-time Library Assistant (Grade 3, Step 1) due to the resignation of the current employee.
A motion was also made to adopt a resolution in support of the Restore Our Parks Act (S.500) and the Restore Our Parks and Public Lands Act (H.R. 1225). This was approved as well.
In other new business, the Commission voted to adopt a Proclamation recognizing June 15, 2019 as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. This was signed during the meeting. Carolyn Jackson, Supervisor Amber Spears, and Director Michelle Fulmer all posed for a picture with the Commissioners after signing the Proclamation
Between the planning session and the meeting, Sheriff Jeff Shaver introduced the media to Kelly White; a new deputy patrol officer for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. He’s been working in the jail for several years and graduated from the Reserve Academy in May.
There were no public hearings or any old business to deal with.
The next regular meeting will be Monday, June 24, 2019 at 5:00 PM.
