The Cherokee County Commission held their regular meeting on Monday evening.
During the meeting a motion was approved adopting the County Budget for Fiscal Year October 1, 2020 – September 30, 2021. Chairman Tim Burgess thanked County Administrator Daniel Steele, Commissioners and all Department Heads for all working together during the budget process.
A contract with Southern Health Partners concerning inmate medical services in the amount of $246, 194.16 annual fee for the next fiscal year October 1, 2020 – September 30, 2021.
An agreement for Forensics Services Consultation and Education with Jacksonville State University was approved in the amount of $2,500.
A list items were approved to be declared as surplus property at the sheriff’s office.
The Commission approved to post bid notices for Jail Management Software for the Cherokee County Detention Facility.
A motion to lower the Speed Limit of County Road 249 from 45mph to 25mph was approved.
A motion was approved to post the Job Description for a Chief Corrections Officer (Deputy Warden) – Grade 6 pay.
A job posting for Motor Vehicle Clerk was approved, the hiring of Kayla Banks as Animal Care Worker was also approved.
The Commission also authorized the Building Maintenance Director to hire a Temporary House Keeper in accordance with county policy.
