Cherokee County Commission Meeting: Local Emergency Personnel Provide Exemplary Service During Saturday Storms

In the planning session held prior to the Monday morning meeting of the Cherokee County Commission – EMA Director Shawn Rogers gave an overview of the damage left behind by storms that plagued the area much of the day on Saturday:

 

During the regular meeting Commissioners approved Blue Cross/Blue Shield renewal rates – which actually held steady; they also approved the Garbage Collection Fee Exemption List for 2020 as submitted by the Cherokee County Health Department which has been trimmed somewhat – from 802 last year to 726 this year.  They likewise approved the agreement for transportation services with East Alabama Regional Planning & Development Commission,  for fiscal years 2020 – 2022.

A number of actions were taken regarding the Cherokee County Public Library with Dana Carroll being promoted from Assistant Librarian to Library Director – effective on February 15th; Rebecca Davis was promoted from Library Assistant to Assistant Librarian – effective February 1st and the Commission also approved two job postings: For one full-time Library Assistant and for one part-time Library Assistant.

Also, it was announced that Raymond Matthews had tendered his resignation from the IDA, the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority – as District 2 Representative – and resumes will be accepted through Wednesday January 22nd until close of business that day at the Commission Office. 

The appointment will be announced at the next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission which will be held Monday, January 27th at 5:00pm in the County Administration Building on the Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.
