Cherokee County Commission Special Called Meeting to Discuss Possible Appointment of EMA Director

The topic of who would succeed retiring Cherokee County EMA Director Beverly Daniel has been the topic of much speculation over the past several weeks.  During that time a number of candidates have been interviewed and finally during the Monday morning meeting of the county commission, it seemed the new director would be named – however that turned out not to be the case.

The commission meeting got underway as usual at 10:00am covering only a couple of items before calling for an executive session which began at approximately 10:15 and lasted until around 12:30, when the commission members came back out, and made the announcement that they would re-convene at 3:00 that afternoon.

At 3:00pm the commission re-convened and immediately went back into executive session, which lasted until just after 4:00 – at which time they came back out and simply announced that they would continue at the next meeting and immediately adjourned.

WEIS Radio News was notified Wednesday afternoon that there would be a “Special Called Meeting” of the Cherokee County Commission on Tuesday, April 18th at 4:00pm.

That meeting, which will be held in the County Administration Building in Centre will be for the purpose of discussion of, and potential action on, appointment of an EMA Director; that, according to the communication sent by the County Commission to WEIS Radio.
