Cherokee County Commissioner Marcie Foster has been named by the UAB Department of Psychology and its Executive Committee as the Distinguished Service Alumni award winner for 2015.

Foster was notified of the honor by the Executive Program Director, Mary Frances Thetford – on behalf of Dr. Maria Hopkins, Chair of the Distinguished Alumni Awards Committee.

The letter stated that the award, which is given annually, reflects the impressive work done by Ms. Foster since graduating from UAB and the Department of Psychology.

Past winners of the award include Robert R. Edwards, Ph.D, an Instructor of Psychiatry and Anesthesiology at Harvard School of Medicine and Robin H. Gurwitch, Ph.D., a Professor in the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Division of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics.

The actual awards ceremony will be held in Birmingham October 7th.
