Cherokee County Country Club Board Of Directors Says They Will Maintain A “Business As Usual” Attitude

The Cherokee County Country Club Board of Directors met on Wednesday, March 14th. At that time, they felt it was in the best interest of the Club to cease operations until a stockholders meeting could be held to explore the options regarding their future. After closing for just one day, the Club re-opening on the 16th and has remained open since that time.

The special meeting was called on March 26th. At that time, by a vote of 34-1, the stockholders present agreed to an increase in dues as well as a mandatory $200 assessment. While a handful responded to the mandatory assessment the information regarding the dues increase and the assessment was never passed on to the entire membership.

Due to the inability to achieve this objective the Board held back on enforcement of the mandatory assessment and dues increase until a follow-up stockholders meeting on April 2nd.

The consensus that night was that membership rates should remain as they were prior to the vote.

Our Club continues to maintain momentum due to our volunteers. There are just not enough words to thanks this dedicated group.

Looking back to Monday, March 19th when the Country Club was hit head on by the large storm our people responded in mass. Classified as an EF-1 tornado, trees were knocked down and ripped apart across the length of the course. As you can imagine, debris was thrown across the course. In addition, half the roof of our maintenance building was torn off. Thanks to the work of our faithful volunteers the course was cleared enough to hold the monthly “Bubba” Scramble the following Saturday.

Since that time, volunteers continue to be our backbone handling daily grounds maintenance duties.

Looking forward, the Board of Directors will meet again in approximately two weeks for further deliberations. At present, we’re trying to proceed with a “business as usual” attitude.

The Cherokee County Country Club is a stockholders and members club. The direction and destiny lies in the hands of those stockholders and members. That being said, the long story short is that play continues and we need your physical and financial support to move forward.
