The public is encouraged to attend and show appreciation for our veterans, and to welcome Mr. Rick Vaughan as he presents a program to honor veterans. There is no cost and all are welcome.
Theme: A Salute to Veterans
Speaker: Rick Vaughan
Mr. Vaughan has served as the chairman of the Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association and is currently the chairman of the Etowah Honor Flight. He is a decorated soldier and distinguished veteran who served three tours in Vietnam and was wounded six times. He served in the Special Forces and received a number of medals for valor. Mr. Vaughan is reluctant to talk about his honors and does not like to bring attention to himself and what he did to receive the honors.
He has worked tirelessly to obtain services for fellow veterans. He served in the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs office in Gadsden from 1992 to the time of his retirement in 2008. Mr. Vaughn worked to help thousands of veterans obtain the services they were entitled to and had been promised.
Mr. Vaughan will share his memories of veterans and his experiences with them. His work with the Honor Flight will be a topic of interest as well as other work he is involved in on behalf of veterans.
