Cherokee County Now Has Had Five Confirmed COVID-19 Related Deaths; 51 Confirmed Cases Thus Far Locally

Cherokee County has now had five deaths resulting from COVID-19 – according to the latest information posted on the COVID-19 Data & Surveillance Dashboard issued by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

The Monday morning numbers indicate that Cherokee County has had thus far, a total of 51 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and two cases considered “probable”; over the past 14 days a total of 13 positive results have been returned out of the 160 tests administered locally.

Statewide, the cumulative number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has reached 25,235 with 768 deaths being attributed to the illness – meanwhile, the number of presumed recoveries currently stands at 13,508.

According to a statement issued by the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency – “As we transition from response to recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic the Cherokee County EMA has made the decision to hold news conferences on an ‘as needed’ basis, rather than weekly.”
