Cherokee County Offices Will Remain Closed Through April 30th

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and in consideration of the State Health Officer’s March 27th, 2020 Order, the County Courthouse, Administrative Building, Library, Nutrition Center, Animal Shelter and Highway Department will remain closed to the public through April 30, 2020. County offices will remain partially staffed during normal operating hours during this period.  The Commission is monitoring the situation and will release any updates if and when they become available. Please note: The Commission is operating under the above-mentioned order and it may be necessary to extend facility closures for an additional period of time if mandated by the State Health Officer.

County offices remain staffed and we are here to answer questions and provide assistance to the public over the phone by calling the numbers listed below. In addition to answering the phones, payments received through mail and the county’s online services are being processed normally. A complete list of the departments and necessary contact information can be found below.

Please note: Per Order of the State Commissioner of Revenue dated April 1, 2020, March and April motor vehicle registration deadlines have been extended through May 15, 2020 without penalty.

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency will host press conferences every Tuesday at 10:00 AM through the end of the COVID-19 emergency. Press conferences may be viewed on the Facebook pages of the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency – Alabama and WEIS Radio.

The Cherokee County Commission is committed to the health and well-being of its employees and citizens. We are taking the appropriate and necessary steps to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus while continuing to provide services to the County. Thank you for your understanding and commitment to keeping our community healthy.

***Please note that these closures will not affect public safety services. ***
