Cherokee County Ranks High on List of “Best Places to Retire in Alabama”

Data website Stacker and Niche recently worked together to compile a list of the best counties to retire in Alabama.  They ranked The top 25 Counties based on a variety of factors, including cost of living, healthcare and more.

According to data collected through their research – the top county to retire to in the state is Lauderdale County – and Florence, Killen and St. Florian are listed as the best cities to retire in, in that county.  Baldwin makes the list at #2, with Covington County rounding out the top three.   In Baldwin County – Fairhope, Daphne and Spanish Fort are listed as the best cities to retire to, while Andalusia, Opp and Heath are the best cities in Covington County.

Cherokee County did very well overall – coming in at #15 with a population of 25,903 and a median household income of $41,919; Median home value is $123,400 with the median rent at $620.  The top places to live inside Cherokee County are ranked as Cedar Bluff (with a grade of B) Centre (with a C+), and Sand Rock (also at C+).  Other nearby counties with high rankings included – Marshall at #25; Calhoun at #24 and Etowah County at #20.
