It was brief meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education on Tuesday, the board approved the minutes from the March 22nd meeting, received the accounts payable for the month of March and heard from Tech Center Principal Brett Keasler who briefly presented an update on Dual Enrollment Opportunities at the Cherokee County Career & Tech Center.
The board also received for review purposes the proposed Anaphylaxis Preparedness’ Guidelines, Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice said that this is exact same guidelines outlined by the state.
An agreement was also approved with Alabama Supercomputer Authority for internet access services for July 1, 2016 – June 1, 2017, the 2016 Science textbook adoption list for 2016 was also approved in addition to a contract for lawn services for Centre Elementary School with Picture Perfect Lawn Service.
Personnel items included –
The acceptance of the retirement of Alanna Blanks, Special Education Teacher at Centre Elementary School following 24 years of service.
Classified Placements included – Carolyn Smith, School Custodian at Sand Rock School. A contract for employment was approved for Lauren Griffin as a 21st Century Aide and supplements were approved for Wayne Early, Maintenance of the 21st CCLC Program Greenhouse at Centre Middle School.
