Cherokee County Sees Snowfall Mainly in Upper Elevations on Sunday

Well, it certainly could have been worse.  A LOT worse.

The storm system that left neighboring counties, and upper elevations dealing with a significant amount of snowfall Sunday – fortunately failed to create serious problems in Cherokee County.  Cherokee Rock Village did receive a fair bit of snow estimated at around an inch, BUT motorists across the county only had to deal with cold rain for the most part – mainly during the morning hours.

In DeKalb County there was enough accumulation to cover cars and leave most yards looking like a Hallmark Christmas card however very few locations actually required road closings – those that did included Beason’s Gap in Ft Payne, and most roadways in Mentone.  There were also trouble spots around Rainsville.

According to the National Weather Service Cherokee County will see sunshine during the day Tuesday with a high in the lower 50’s while the Wednesday forecast is calling for afternoon showers, fortunately the high is expected to be around 60.
