Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Leesburg Police Involved in High-Speed Pursuit Monday Night / UPDATED

Cherokee County law enforcement was involved in a high-speed chase that started in Alabama and continued into Georgia Monday Night.

Reportedly that incident began in Leesburg, when police attempted to pull over a car on Highway 273 – however, instead on complying, the female behind the wheel of the 2014 Dodge Avenger fled, reportedly reaching speeds near 100 mph.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies joined the pursuit at County Road 15, with the subject traveling down Jamestown Road and Highway 48 to Cloudland, where she eventually drove into a field near Mississippi Avenue, and at that point she bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot, managing to elude authorities.

We’ll have additional information as it becomes available.
