The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Sand Rock Fire Department have partnered to open a Sheriff’s Office substation which will be located inside the Fire Department building.  Sheriff Shaver says the substation will provide a greater officer presence in Sand Rock and other communities located on Lookout Mountain, such as Tucker’s Chapel.

Sheriff Shaver stated (quote) “We appreciate the Sand Rock Fire Department for graciously opening up their facility to us to offer an office for deputies to do paperwork and to at times meet with people for reports or other matters.” (end-quote)

In 2017 the Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Gaylesville teamed up to open a Sheriff’s Office Substation at the Gaylesville Town Hall.

The sheriff said proximity to the schools was a key factor in choosing their locations for the substations.  He says they’re hoping to open a substation on the southern end of the county sometime in the near future.
