Cherokee County Student Takes Home The Reserve Championship In The Shorthorn Bred & Owned Division At The Alabama Junior Beef Expo

Spring Garden High School Senior Eason Reece and his heifer ‘Star’ won Reserve Champion in the Shorthorn Bred and Owned Division at the Alabama Junior Beef Expo. That is for exhibitors that actually produced their own animal (animal was bred and born on their farm).

He began showing in his freshman year 2014. He has shown a total of 4 heifers over the years he has exhibited in the Alabama National Fair each fall, Alabama Junior Cattlemen Association Round Up each July, Alabama Junior Beef Expo in March each year.

Eason had the 2016 Alabama Junior Beef Expo Grand Champion Chi influenced Heifer.

He has really enjoyed the experiences and has really made some great industry connections. He is planning on getting a degree in animal sciences and wants to specialize in Farm/ranch management.

Eason Reece of Cherokee County won Bred & Owned (B&O) reserve champion for the Shorthorn division during the Junior Beef Expo (JBE) Heifer Show, March 17. He is pictured with heifer Star B311 and his mother Kim. JBE is presented by the Alabama Farmers Federation and held in conjunction with the SLE Rodeo at Garrett Coliseum.
