One person was hurt in a two-vehicle accident taking place on the Chestnut Bypass in Centre just after 10:30 Friday morning (January 10th).

According to the Centre Police Department accident report the vehicles involved included a 2003 Kia Rio driven by 89 year old Margie Robertson of Collinsville – and a Cherokee Electric Co-op bucket truck being driven by 35 year old Centre resident Jeff Steele.

The Kia Rio received damage to the front of the vehicle – however the driver of the bucket truck, in an attempt to avoid the collision – went off onto the soft shoulder of the road causing the truck to overturn in front of Rehab Partners.

Robertson was unhurt, but Steele was transported from the scene by EMS, and taken to Cherokee Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Those responding to the scene included the Centre PD, Centre Fire Department, Cherokee EMS, and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad.
