Cherokee Electric Co op Working to Restore Power Following High Winds / UPDATE – POWER RESTORED

Cherokee County experienced a number of isolated power outages throughout the evening Monday, and overnight, due to extremely high winds.

WEIS Radio spoke with Sarah Bright with the Cherokee Electric Co op early Tuesday morning, and she told us that a major problem was in the area of the Alabama Belle around County Road 531 and in the Piney vicinity.

Either high winds, or a tree downed by the winds, broke a three-phase pole in that area and that in turn stripped the wiring off of three other poles, causing significant damage.

Multiple crews were dispatched to the location, with other crews being sent as soon as they finished their work at other locations across the county.

Power was restored just after 7:30 Tuesday morning.
