Cherokee Health & Rehab Will Begin Limited Outdoor Visitations

PRESS RELEASE FROM CCHRC:

Cherokee County Health & Rehab Center will now allow limited visits with residents outdoors at its health-care complex in Centre. Only one family member can visit at a time, and visits will be by appointment only. CCHRC will perform a health screening on family members when they arrive at the facility.

To visit, a person must have had a negative Covid-19 test within the previous 48 hours. If a visitor has not had a Covid-19 test in the past two days, CCHRC will do one free of charge. Visitors who need a Covid test must arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled appointment to give nurses time to administer the test and wait for results.

“We are very happy we can begin this process, and we ask for everyone’s understanding as we organize a system that will help keep our residents and their family members safe,” said
Jerry Culberson, president of Preferred Health Services Inc., which manages the long-term care facility.

During the past six months when in-person visits were prohibited, CCHRC arranged for visits on its sun porches with glass between visitors and residents, and it also helped with FaceTime calls for residents.

“These continue to be difficult times for all of us. Our staff has worked incredibly hard, and our residents have been supportive,” Culberson said.
