A variety of factors need to be considered, such as – without health insurance, you may not be able to afford medical care when you, or a family member, needs it; if you don’t have the necessary health coverage and experience a serious illness or medical emergency YOU will be responsible for all of your medical costs, which could result in severe financial hardship

Also you cannot be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition, such as diabetes or a previous cancer diagnosis.

Some individuals and families could qualify for low-cost coverage through Medicaid. In all states Medicaid provides health coverage for some low-income people – families & children pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities; and even though Alabama hasn’t expanded Medicaid – there are still many individuals in the community that will qualify for Medicaid coverage. Also bear in mind, depending on household income and family size you may qualify for financial assistance from the government – or subsidies – toward the cost of the premium and other financial obligations such as co-pays or deductibles.
