Firefighters with the Centre, Ellisville and Mt. Weisner Departments were dispatched to the scene of what had been reported as a chicken house fire on County Road 32 at Sugar Creek Farms, shortly before 8:00am Friday.
Initial reports indicated that there was also a vehicle on fire, with other structures possibly being in danger as well.
Upon arrival it was discovered that the chicken house itself was not on fire; instead chicken litter was on fire inside the structure.
The small fire did spread to a truck parked inside the building, causing some damage to the vehicle. Fortunately the quick response from area firefighters kept the structure itself from catching ablaze.
