Child Struck And Killed By A Vehicle In Summerville

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate an accident that happened on Friday evening in Summerville when a nineteen-month-old toddler walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Highway 27, across the road from Advance Auto.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was on the scene on Saturday.  Troopers said that they were trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. ‘

The toddler was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lane of Highway 27.  The accident happened inside the city limits of Summerville, but the investigation was handed over to the State Patrol by Summerville Police.  DFCS was also called to the scene, due to the age of the victim.

The child was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome. The child was pronounced deceased on arrival at Floyd Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the child was a 30 year old female from Rome, Georgia.
