Fifty-two teams from nineteen different school descended on Cherokee County during the last week bringing families and fans to the 2013 Choccolocco Middle School Tip Off Classic Basketball Tournament. The teams, comprised of seventh and eighth grade boys and girls, kicked off the tournament last week with two days of play and will continue this coming week with games scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. In total the tournament will utilize five different sites in Cherokee County to conduct ninety-eight games spread out over five days of competition. Centre Middle School, and the Gadsden State Arena along with Cherokee County, Spring Garden and Sand Rock High Schools will participate as host sites. Along with serving as a source of entertainment the tournament also provides a boost to area economy as well.
