City of Centre Employees Test Positive for COVID-19; City Hall Closed Monday; Tuesday’s Council Meeting Postponed

SIGN PLACED ON THE FRONT DOOR OF CENTRE CITY HALL MONDAY

WEIS Radio News has learned that multiple employees at Centre City Hall reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Mayor Tony Wilkie is currently out of town; however, he was gracious enough to contact us by phone to provide us with a brief update on the situation:

According to City Attorney Al Shumaker the Centre City Council meeting that was originally scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, July 14th) has been postponed, and will likely be held next Tuesday, July 21st.

We also spoke with Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship Tuesday, who himself, is currently under self-quarantine and quickly recovering; he also informed us that another employee of the police department is out, awaiting results of testing.

Phone calls to the Centre Police Department will be routed to 9-1-1 in the event that no one is available to answer.
