City Of Centre Votes To Drop Dixie Youth Baseball And Go With Baseball Players Association (BPA)

Participants of youth baseball in the City of Centre will be seeing some welcomed changes to the league beginning this season.

During a recent special called meeting of the Centre City Council, several parents and coaches from the Dixie Youth Baseball League met with the quorum to discuss the possibility of switching from the Dixie Youth platform to BPA (Baseball Players Association) League.

Following some lengthy discussion which included the pros & cons of the move the council voted unanimously to allow the league to drop Dixie Youth and officially go with BPA. One of the main issues discussed was the fact that most off of the players were already registered under the old Dixie Youth forms. Parents/coaches agreed to take on the task of making sure that each and every player filled out and turned in the necessary paperwork prior to the start of the regular season.

The city also agreed to redo its liability form to include BPA rather than Dixie Youth, once again parents/coaches agreed to make sure that those forms were signed prior to the start of the season.

Another issue discussed was the topic of insurance, presently the city has insurance which covered the Dixie Youth League, following some discussion the city agreed to request a refund for unused insurance premiums and to purchase the necessary insurance for BPA.

There was also the discussion of who would pay the sanctioning fees per team for BPA, parents and coaches told the council that they would cover that cost through fundraisers, etc.
