City of Gadsden to Distribute PPE Packages

Gadsden, AL – The City of Gadsden will have 1,000 packages of personal protective equipment available for seniors and low-income families on Friday (January 29th).

Personal Protective Equipment packages will be distributed from 1:00 to 4:00pm, OR while supplies last – at two locations:  The Venue at Coosa Landing (201 George Wallace Drive) and the Alabama City Center (2000 West Meighan Boulevard).

Each package will include – face masks, hand sanitizer, disinfecting spray and disinfecting wipes.

Money for the effort is coming from the Community Development Block Grant program’s COVID-19 relief funds.  Nick Hall, Director of Planning for the City of Gadsden, said that while federal funding made it possible to purchase the supplies, the kits were put together by local student volunteers.  “We want to thank Daniel Cody and the rest of the Key Club at Southside High School for their help in assembling these kits,” Hall said. “We appreciate their willingness to volunteer.”

Around 200 kits will also be sent to the Elliott Community Center for distribution to those served by the nutrition program.
