Closings & Delays for Monday, January 6th / UPDATED – Cherokee County Schools ‘Out’

All Cherokee County Schools are closed today (Monday), that, due to some icing on a number of secondary roadways around the county in the upper elevations and there will be a two-hour delay on Tuesday.

the Cherokee County Administration Building, Cherokee County Courthouse and Public Library will also all two hours later than normal today (Monday).

The Cherokee County Child Development Center is closed today (Monday) and will open at 8:00 Tuesday morning.

The CED Mental Health Center, located at 200 Dean Buttram Avenue in Centre, will be on a two hour delay today (Monday).

Gadsden State Community College will delay opening by two hours today and tomorrow – (both Monday and Tuesday).

DeKalb County Schools are closed today (Monday) – DeKalb County Offices are on a two hour delay.

Faith Christian will be will be delayed two hours today (Monday).

Cornerstone Christian Academy, Gadsden City and Etowah County Schools are on a two hour delay, both today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) – all Calhoun County, Piedmont City, Anniston City, Cleburne County, Donoho, Jacksonville City, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic, and Oxford City schools are all on a two hour delay today (Monday) through Wednesday.

Several “warming centers” are open in Etowah County today (Monday) through Wednesday:

The Carnes Recreation Center, 102 Case Avenue in Attalla – opening each day at 8:00am / Elliot Community Center at 2829 West Meighen Boulevard in Gadsden – open 8:00am to 5:00pm daily / the Carver Community Center at 1030 Tuscaloosa Avenue – open from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day.
